Wikipedia describes a familial generation as 25.2 years in the US and 27.4 years in the UK. (2004 figures) So that gives approximately 73 - 80 generations in 2010 years. These figures are probably influenced by Satan of course and should be ignored. For a proper definition of generation see WT dated...........

Did anyone see the chart on the platform in one of the pictures? Anyone remember those? They were big congregation "time slips" with the cong's activity for each month pasted in. I used to help my congregation servant daddy paste the numbers in the boxes when I was little. Fun times... :)
I think that photo must have been pre 1950 as the year text is from the KJV.
I remember the charts very well in the 1950' and 60's. We did not have a permanent KH in those days so we had a 'roll up' version which my dad had to carry on the bus to and from every meeting. The numbers came on sheets from the WTS, in red and black, and had to be carefully cut out and pasted on at the end of every month. A visitor to the KH apparently asked about PUBS on the chart; that is a common abbreviation for Public House here in England, it was of course number of publishers!
Sometime in the 60's the charts were abandoned and a small sheet which I think covered 6 months instead of a year, was pinned on the notice board.

approximately five weeks ago, i visited the local library and searched every book i could find that discusses the destruction of jerusalem in ancient times.

the results were conclusive: all secular sources agree that jerusalem was destroyed in 587/586 bce.
I believe it is only since about 1943 that JW's have taken the date 607 BCE. Prior to that they said it was 606 BCE. When they discovered the error due to no zero year they moved Jerusalems destruction from 606 to 607 rather than alter 1914. A case of having the desired answer and fiddling the evidence to support it.
If you check all the old literature prior to about 1943 this is quite clear.

if you were a convert to the watchtower society , how well did you know the doctrines of the faith before your conversion?
Born in, baptised at around 14 because it was expected. Never did any research until about 2 years ago then realised it was all a bit late. (I'm mid 60's now). Still trapped in and very bitter about all the lies I have been told. Embarrassed that I have allowed myself to be fooled.

a few years back, before i had any doubts and when i was a hardcore jw, i remember a super-pioneer-jw sister was conversing with me.
i made the comment about some of my friends at work (all non-witnesses).
she stops me mid sentence and says "friends?
I have non-JW friends. They are the ones that visited me and sent me cards when I was ill in hospital.

There has been a copy of a photograph for sale quite a few times on e-bay at the end of last year, taken on the Mount of Olives in 1910. It shows C T Russell and the other members of the tour.

A sister commented on the relevant paragraph and explained that she and her grandmother were of the same generation as they were both of the television generation but her son was not of the same generation as he is 17 so of the computer generation! The WT conductor fully agreed.
After the meeting I spoke to one of the elders. I pulled out my dictionary to show him the various definitions of generation. He said that did not count as it was not a Bible dictionary. In the Bible words have a different meaning.
I despair!
